Swanson Red grapes

Whip wanted to go on our nightly constitutional early.  As we walked I could see one of the neighbors was shooting off fireworks.  I don't know if they were doing it because it was Labor Day or a special day for one of them or just because.  It got me to thinking though about earlier in the year when the Feds added another holiday.   Some legislators argued there were too many holidays and I suggested if that was a problem we could 'decommission' an existing holiday.  Now I was thinking we should switch Labor Day and the 4th of July (which would of course would go by it's other name of Independence Day).  Currently it doesn't get dark enough on Independence Day to shoot off fireworks until 9:30.  This Labor Day my neighbor was shooting them off a little after 8.  If we switched holidays, it would be easier on everyone's schedule.  Of course, switching holidays means rewriting a bit of history which has been done too much in the past.  Much easier to make shooting off fireworks something one does as part of the Labor Day celebration.  We just need to convince the government and municipalities to do their big fireworks displays on Labor Day and soon everyone would be following suit.   What other tradition should we tweek?  Hunting for colored eggs on New Year's Day?  Giving presents at Thanksgiving?   Trick or treating on Valentines Day?
