This spring Whip and I were having a rocky relationship. Whip would come when I called unless she found something better to do. Running out on the road was a great adventure. Chasing newborn fawns was tremendous fun. Of course the latter is against the law and couldn't be allowed. I asked my neighbor Doug Dearhamer if I could borrow his dog shock collar. It's worked miracles. Whip wears it on walks and when she's in the house w/ the cats. I don't zap her often. I did when she chased a fawn; when she wouldn't return once; when she started running toward the highway; and when she jumped at one of the cats in the house. I haven't had to use it for a month now. She sticks around home and she and the cats are even coming to a kind-of truce. I'm impressed w/ how quickly she figured out what I wanted but then I've always said she's smart. I just needed a way to get her attention.

Our new neighbor used shock collars on his 2 big dogs when they moved here last summer. We were surprised how quickly the dogs learned the perimeter of the property.
It sounds like it has been a safety tool for Whip. You can lovingly call those "teachable moments".
