Flat-topped White Asters

I can feel summer coming to an end.  I tossed out the last bag of 4th of July fireworks refuse.  I attended the State Fair.  The different wild varieties of aster are in bloom in the meadow.  Time to finish up summer projects and get ready for colder weather.   Sleipnir was built to function, at least in part, as a place to overwinter the flowers.  I moved the potting bench from the deck to Sleipnir's back wall.  Hadn't really planned on putting it in the building but thought it would be nice to repot those plants earlier in the season.  Will see how it works out.  Have stockpiled dirt there in preparation.  When I left for the fair, I filled all for hummingbird feeders plus put out a fifth to get them through the days I would be gone.  There is still fluid in four of them.   Pretty sure the females have left for southern climes.  What's left is this year's juveniles and those more northern based hummers picking up some sustinance on their way out of town.  I also took down all the birthday cards on my mantle.  My sister-in-law said the community where she lives celebrates birthdays for an entire month - so I left my birthday cards out.    Plus this birthday was hard on me so friend Kathy decided to clean out her old birthday cards by sending them to me one by one.  It perked me up - especially the one that was a get-well card.  She just crossed out the 'Hope you have a speedy recovery' reference and inserted 'Hope you have a Happy Birthday'.
