Ox-eyed Daisy

Winter Gardens (a plant nursery) was open on the 4th of July.  The 'bonus bucks' I had earned when I picked up plants there in May were redeemable in July so Dawn and I drove there (while Rick, Paul, and Brent took off on a quest for more fireworks).    All but one of my Oriental (or is it Asiatic?) lilies died last winter so I picked up replacements.  Dawn found a 'rain chain' which can hang from an eave and act like a rain downspout.  I might have considered it but it seemed a bit pricy for basically a chain w/ interspersed cups.   She pointed out rain gauges.  Perfect.  I had been thinking it would be a good idea to have one.  So, thanks to Dawn, I can say with a great deal of confidence that we received an inch of rain yesterday.  Since it's glass, Dawn cautioned me to bring it inside before the temps fall below freezing.  Guess I should look around for a snow gauge too.

May I suggest a yardstick for your snow gauge? ;-)
