Sanding and the first coat of paint

Library duty tonight.  I go in a little early to get turnover information from the librarian and the volunteer on duty before me.  We are still doing the Summer Reading Program.  The volunteer on duty was checking in books.  He said that just before I had arrived a parent had come in w/ a box full of books to return.  Good that the kids are reading more.  Not so good that all of the books are Elementary or Easy Reader level which are the hardest to reshelf.   So the kids can pick out their own books, the shelves in that area are short (4 feet at most) and the books are thin so their labels aren't easily read.  I told him I would take over and he gratefully took off.  I was busy w/ those when another parent came in w/ a knapsack full of books.  This would take awhile.  The front door is still locked and there are cones directing people to use the back door.  "Bring those in before you leave." the librarian instructed.  "We are borrowing them and I don't want them walking off."  Not a problem.  "Oh, and check the bathrooms before you leave.  They need to be clean."  That was a problem.  I cleaned offices and bathrooms the first Spring Break at college because I lived too far away to go home.  I found it an interesting exercise but one never to be repeated.  The Summer Reading Program was putting on a puppet show on the lawn.  Afterwards Colleen came in to put away their props and said she was checking the bathrooms before she left.  I would have nominated her for sainthood if I was Roman Catholic.
