The Forest is turning Green
Nothing on my calendar for today . The dog and I walked to the end of the driveway w/ the garbage bag. Wednesday is pickup day and the bin needs to be moved out to the end of the driveway before the truck comes. I hung the clothes out on the clothesline early. Forecast is for clouds and then rain to blow in by noon today so the clothes need to dry before that. I picked up flowers and planters to put on the graves over Memorial Day. They only have three weeks to get settled in before they go out to the cemetery. Planted all of the containers this afternoon. Still have some other flowers to plant but they can wait Nighttime temps for the next week will fall perilously close to freezing. When I picked up the flowers for Memorial Day I saw that the greenhouse had left out some of their plants overnight. The daylilies and Asiatics showed signs of frozen tips. So tonight I waited until the sun set, the winds calmed but it was still light enough to see what I'm doing. Then I covered the peonies with old sheets. Oops, can't forget that Mother's Day is this weekend. That's when the hummingbirds traditionally return to the Northwoods. I made nectar tonight and set it out on the counter to cool. Will put out the hummer feeders tomorrow morning. Kinda enjoy these days when I have nothing to do.
