Peony plant
I'm thinking of making a list of my favorite performances of each of Shakespeare's plays. First some rules: It must use Shakespeare's actual language: so West Side Story, Deliver Us from Eva, and A Thousand Acres are out. I don't care the time period or place that the performance is set in. I watched a delightful presentation of The Merchant of Venice set in the 1920's above a proverbial bowling alley once. Last it needs to be a wonderful performance. I've usually enjoyed any performance of a Shakespeare's play but it takes a very good performer to make 16th century words speak to a 21st century audience. I do love Kenneth Branagh's Much Ado About Nothing movie but Kenny Leon's same play performed in Central Park in 2020 was pretty fun also. Romeo and Juliet has been done to death though Masterpiece Theatre recently had a version on Great Performances that was very very good. I watched Othello in the Big City w/ Christopher Plummer playing Iago. That was magical. Anyway, this will take some research which I don't mind. If you've got a particular performance you really liked, let me know.

Have the Muppets done a Shakespeare story? I think that would be funny.
