Hawthorn Blossoms

I got a call from the fire inspector.   He needed to set up a time when he could come to the town hall for  his yearly inspection.  I reminded him that I was no longer clerk (not for quite a few years) but that I happen to still have a set of keys and I could meet him there when he liked.  He suggested later in the afternoon.  I called the real town clerk and she was OK w/ me doing this little task.  She asked if I'd done it before and I said when I was clerk I had.   After the phone call it got me to wondering though just how often the fire inspector does his 'yearly' checkup?  That afternoon I met the fire inspector at the town hall and unlocked the door.  He went straight to the fire extinguisher by the kitchen.  "2017?" he said.  "You need to get this updated."   He would check back in a month to see if the extinguishers had been updated.  I asked what the town's options were.  He gave me the card of someone nearby that would inspect the extinguishers and affix an updated inspection date or the fire extinguishers can be replaced with new ones.   Thought there would be more to a fire inspection.  You know, checking the buildings exits, looking for oily cloths thrown away, maybe opening the fuse box.  Guess I am overthinking a simple task.
