Sunrise - March 7
Darcin is back in the news. It was discovered to be a sex pheromone for mice back in 2010 and named after Pride & Prejudice's main heartthrob. This was a major discovery because, while sex pheromones had been identified in insects, here was an instance of them affecting a mammal. After testing with wild and later domesticated mice, Darcy proved to be almost irresistible to the female of that species. Male mice put in separate mesh cages and one sprinkled w/ the stuff had female mice clawing and chewing in an effort to get at the male. One of the main researchers in the discovery of Darcin was asked the obvious question, "Is there a human pheromonic equivalent?" She answered that it would be ethically difficult to do similar research on humans. Obviously she's never watched The Bachelor.
