Temp in the 60's. Woo-hoo! The patches of ground showing in the snowpack are elongating and growing. Whip and I took off and walked wherever the snow was sparsest. That took us through trees, fens, and along deer trails. Instead of strapping on her coat, I tied a red scarf to her harness. It's easier to espy her from a distance and if she decided to take off on the road, maybe drivers would notice her and hit the brakes. The scarf's polyester. I hadn't even looked at it since the pandemic started when I had considered using it as a mask. By the time we got home from the walk, Whip was wearing a big smile and the scarf had done battle w/ blackberry canes - and lost. About 10 minutes later, everything was put away and I walked back into the foyer to pet Whip who had lain down for an noon nap. There struggling against her black hair was a shiny black tick. I deposited the tick into a jar I keep for such purposes in the freezer. I found the flea & tick prevention treats and fed one to Whip. I retrieved my phone from the camera bag and made an appointment for Whip to get her annual Lyme's shot. That done, I shucked off my clothes, tenting them the tub, and then took a shower. Gotta take the bad with the good.
