Road bans went on today. Roads are built to different specifications. Town roads are not built as strong nor have as deep a base as, say, county or state roads. In the spring the ground heaves as the frost goes out and heavy vehicles on town roads might crack and break up the asphalt or rut the gravel. Therefore towns put weight limits on trucks traveling their roads until sufficient moisture has left the ground and the road bed has stabilized (four to six weeks usually). For example, garbage trucks can't travel on town roads during this period of time. Each garbage company will set up a place nearby you can take your refuse. This is about a week early for the spring bans. That news coupled w/ the seasonal bill from my snowplow guy makes me think spring is practically here.
