Sunrise - January 29
As is usual this time of year, people in the Northwoods aren't that concerned about their appearance. First and foremost, once the temp gets to 20 below no one else cares what you look like. People tend to keep their hats/stocking caps on so there is no such thing as "a bad hair day." Bulky coats means no need to change out of your oh-so-warm but on-the-ratty-side sweater when going downtown. Inevitably shoes become encased in snow and slush. There is even less grumbling about wearing masks. It felt pretty good to have extra face covering in the bitter cold and wind of last week. The mask is a godsend for me right now. Whip tagged me in the face w/ her claws and it will take a little time for the scratches across my lips to heal. Wearing a mask in public means no need to explain.
