Sunrise - December 20 - Winter Solstice

I've been looking forward to this day!  First it's my niece's birthday.  Happy Birthday, Shelby.  Second it's Groundhog Day and that always reminds me of the movie (should buy it so I can play it this time of year).  Third today is one of the 'cross-quarter' days.  This is a picture of the sunrise back on the Winter Solstice but today is halfway between that solstice and the Vernal Equinox -  i.e. technically winter is half way done.   Finally it's the holiday of Imbolc.  Gotta love a holiday that is celebrated by simply taking a bath and lighting candles.

Love that movie, 'Groundhog Day'! We invited some friends over to watch it with us. If I heard correctly, Punxsutawney Phil did in fact, see his shadow and we have 6 more weeks of winter left.
