Sunrise - December 24

Watch the sunrise pictures.  At the winter solstice the sun rose at it's furthest southern point.  It will now start rising a bit further east each day - barely perceptible at first and then by noticable amounts each day.  Judge it's movement by the town's water tower.

When the dog and I started out for the long walk this morning, I figured just out and around the middle field and back up through the woods.   Once we got to Gorgeous Gorge though I saw my neighbor had driven his truck fairly close so there were tracks in the field leading down to the swamp.  The forecast has a snowstorm starting tonight followed by frigid temps.  I've never walked the swamp in February.  There is usually so much snow this time of year that it's a struggle to make it as far as the Gorge.  Just couldn't pass up the chance so the dog and I did a loop through the swamp.   Even w/ the truck tracks to follow it was a trek.  Still for the absolute quiet and peace, well worth it.
