Fresh snow always means you can see what has been going on in the fields since you last were there. The paths I mow in the summer are still the major highways for the larger wildlife and obstacles to be crossed by the smaller denizens. This morning I came across a very large canid track. It came from the direction of the gravel pit, up the hill, across a field, skirted through the woods, and then I lost it in all of the other tracks on the path. I made my own footprint next to it for size and had Whip put two of her prints over the top. It's not that I'm worried if it's a wolf but if it is one the thing must be the size of Fenrir! There are two Great Pyrenees dogs in the neighborhood and I've seen them roam around down by the gravel pit. I would be surprised if the dogs traveled so far from their home but a little relieved if this print was made by a domesticated dog.
