Pre-dawn

Started working on getting all of the Christmas cards out.  It's not as easy as it sounds.  I started out by putting on a Midsomer Murder Mystery DVD.  Turns out I can't make out addresses and remember all of the characters in the show at the same time.  So I switched to Christmas music.  When Blitzen wants attention she puts out a tentative paw and pats me.  That would be soooo cute if she didn't have her claws extended.  So I stopped to give her a pet - which took awhile until she was satisfied and sat just out of arms reach to watch me.  Dunder decided he also wanted attention.  His method of getting attention is to walk back and forth on the keyboard, then rubbing up against me w/ his tail in my face before settling down between my arms.  He has longer hair than Blitz and seems to be in a constant state of shedding.  I picked him up, put him down on the floor, and swatted away any stray hair.  (If you find any of it sticking out from underneath the stamp on the envelope, I'm sorry.)  Of course, Whip wanted attention too but she didn't have as many options  except looking at me w/ those soulful eyes.  So I put the cards out of the reach of the cats (Blitz likes to chew on paper and Dunder has a particular fascination w/ postage stamps) and Whip and I took a walk out through the new woods (where the canopy isn't as thick) looking for a potential Christmas tree.  I don't usually cut one but I like to look.  No hurry if I do decide to saw one down.  Like my mother, trees aren't put up until the week of Christmas.

Did Grandma and Grandpa have a reason for waiting until the week of Christmas or was it just less watering involved that way?
