Hummers

I startled three meadowlarks today.  You can tell them even if they are flying away from you by the white patch on their rump.  I usually don't see them during the summer so assume they are getting ready to migrate/migrating through.  Happened to also see three bald eagles and three turkey vultures.  Some bald eagles stay through the winter but the vultures must be thinking it's time to be taking off for warmer climes too.  My little juvenile hummingbirds are still here so I'm still brewing up nectar for them.   I make a note on the calendar every day that I see them.  Rule of thumb is to wait two weeks after you see the last one and then you can remove their feeders.
