Raking and Baling

This afternoon I received a couple of e-mails about the upcoming primary.  The governor just came out w/ a mandatory mask requirement for the state.  His earlier attempt to extend the Stay-At-Home order was brought by the legislature before our supreme court and it was shot down.  Now we are one of those states w/ a rapid rise in coronavirus cases.  The makeup of our supreme court has changed slightly since then so I'm guessing he's hoping when the legislature fights him on this one, he's got a better chance of it sticking.

Then the state's federal appeals court OK'd more restrictive rules for voting.  A person has to reside in the state for 28 days instead of the previous 10 days.  Also, absentee ballots can't be e-mailed or faxed.   This all means that clerks are scrambling to send out updated or amended absentee ballots and make provisions for people who e-mailed absentee ballots for the August primary already.  As if elections during a pandemic aren't exciting enough.
