1992 - Wild Flowers

This wild flower pane is one of the prettiest printed.  The U.S. postal service says they figured out the most popular wildflowers that are all native and found in at least one of the 50 states.  I'm thinking the postal service didn't figure this one out all on it's own.  However, I can't argue w/ the flowers they picked.  They included spring ephemeral like Dutchman's Breeches and Trillium.  Water lilies as Indian Pond Lily and Fragrant Water Lily.  Tall flowers like Sunflower and small flowers like Rue Anemone.  They even included an orchid - Yellow Lady Slipper.  The first day of issue was July 24, 1992 in Columbus, Ohio.  11 million were printed.  Scott # 2647 - 96
