1992 - Space Accomplishments

These se-tenant stamps were issued jointly by Russia and the U.S.  A designer from each country contributed to the overall design of the four stamps.  The stamp was issued to celebrate 25 years in space - one stamp shows a cosmonaut with the space shuttle - the next stamp is and Astronaut and the MIR space station - another features the Apollo Lunar Module and Sputnik - the final stamp includes the Soyuz, Mercury, and Gemini spacecrafts.  The stamp was issued in both countries on May 29, 1992.   37.3 million U.S. stamps were printed and first day of issue was Chicago, Illinois.  Scott # 2631-2634 (same stamp but w/ Russian wording and denomination #6083a)
