1988 - Connecticut

As part of the U.S. Bicentenary a series of stamps commemorating the signing of the Constitution were printed.  These included a stamp for each of the original 13 colonies.  This harbor scene of a whaling ship is a salute to the colony of Connecticut, the new nation's fifth state.   It was issued on January 9, 1988 (exactly 200 years after Connecticut ratified the Constitution) in Hartford, CT.  155.2 million stamps were printed.  Scott # 2340
