Hairy Woodpecker

I'd forgotten today was the village's Christmas celebration when I said I would fill in at the library on Saturday morning.  The library was hectic but there were enough volunteers to help each child up on Santa's knee.  (Our Santa has a wonderfully resonant 'ho, ho, ho'.) Volunteers to run games for the children in the stacks.  Volunteers to give out prizes to each child.  I left early since there was even an extra volunteer for the front desk.  Picked up my neighbor Anita and we checked out the craft fair at the Fire Station.  Then we drove over to an old creamery building.  It had been converted into a sort of event center and was decorated w/ an eclectic assortment of salvaged items - large stained glass windows, the inside of a piano, a law library, an absolutely huge iron ball suspended from an equally huge chain over the staircase.  We stopped off for a light lunch at the Toad House where I found the last  Christmas present I needed before Christmas.   A grand day.

Sounds like a fun day. Was that last Christmas gift for a friend? Does it have a story attached?
