Hair Hijinks

My state is trying to reestablish multiple elk populations.  One of the sites is just north of me and, while the herd is growing, elk are still a protected species here.  During this rifle season for deer, a hunter shot two bull elk.   Elk are typically about twice the size of a white-tailed deer.  White-tailed deer have white throat patches, white bellies, and, of course, white underneath their tails.  Elk have black legs and necks and a tan rump patch.   An elks antlers curve back toward their body and deer antlers curve forward toward their head.  The hunter realized too late their mistake and reported it to the local game warden.  I assume the hunter had 'buck fever' - so eager to make a kill that they didn't follow the primary rule in hunting of being sure of one's target.  A good reminder for farmers to keep their cows, horses, sheep, and large dogs close to home during hunting season.
