Bluebird

My neighbor Anita said mornings are quiet now.  I stood out on the deck this morning at sunrise.  She's correct about that.  The bird's morning chorus is missing the bobolinks, red-winged blackbirds, and song sparrows.  Tree swallows seem to be gone too.   Hummers are still here but they don't really sing.  There are fewer of them too - I can tell because the hummingbird nectar lasts longer now.  I was wondering why I hadn't noticed the absence of the bird's songs.  So I listened.  There is a background hum, buzz, and click of insects and frogs throughout the meadow.  A wonderful sound that I'll revel in until the silence of winter descends.
