Back in May Friend Nancy and I went to Winter Gardens to pick up plants for the season and we were awarded w/ 'Bonus Bucks' based on how much we bought. Bonus Bucks can only be used during the month of July so it's an incentive for people to return to the greenhouse in a month when sales are beginning to drop off. Nancy didn't want anything else so she gave me not only her bonus bucks but her husband's also. Bopped up w/ Brent today. First a peony to add to the row that is along the SE deck. Found one that is yellow. Have never seen one that color. However it was more expensive than it was probably worth. Picked up a red one and will consider a yellow one next year. My standard for choosing Oriental lilies is smell - the more the better. I plant the Oriental's next to the peonies for more color (and scent) after the peonies have bloomed. Came to the mums next. Picked out a bright red one and will put it out in front of Mjolnir's front door. As you may remember, I never met a daylily I didn't like. Brent picked out his fav which was light purple and I picked out mine - one w/ differing tones of light orange. Went searching for sedum. The SW side of the deck is too windy for tall growing plants so I have been slowly putting in low growing sedum. Found one plus another even smaller sedum which will fit into a planter I have in my bedroom. Used up all of the Bonus Bucks. Had fun.
