Golden thread
My biggest issue right now is Indy. My neighbor Blake cut and baled hay in my field next to the house. That's brought out the hunters - eagles, vultures, and my dog. The baby birds in nests on the ground in the field had already learned to fly. The fawns were old/smart enough by now to get out of the way of the scythe. However, there is always something that is caught unaware - a ground squirrel, a vole, a rat. Indy follows me whenever I go outside and usually she stays w/ me. However the call of the hunt is too much for her and whenever I'm distracted she takes off to check out the field. Normally I'd let her but left to her own devices she sometimes heads for the highway. So now I'm constantly walking out w/ a leash to bring her back (she also pretends not to hear me). I have a new appreciation for parents w/ toddlers.

Preteens don't listen either. And that's frustrating because they know better!!! :-)
