Monarch and Lilacs

The pastor is still going through the 10 commandments.  Today he was on 'Thou shalt not kill.' which he said the old King James version has wrong - it should read 'You should not murder.'   (I still prefer the King James.)  A short verse but w/ many facets.  Figured this could be an interesting sermon but I didn't ever understand the pastor's take on it.  Some sermons are like that.  There was an added element of tension since three baptisms were planned at the end of the sermon and the top was off the baptismal pool.  One wrong step backward and the pastor would be swimming.  Even w/ that possibility to watch for, my mind started wandering and I began listing Monsters/Villains in alphabetical order on the back of the bulletin.  Got as far as 'O' when the pastor drew his talk to a close.  It's true I didn't get much from the sermon per se but I have been thinking about the commandment off and on for the rest of the day.  Guess there is more than one way for a sermon to be effective.
