Pussywillows
Most of the snow is off the fields. Can still see some at the edges where snow caught into big dunes and around the house where the plow guy left it. Time to see what was going on in the woods. First Indy and I walked out by Gorgeous Gorge. It's still frozen over so no ducks or frogs. Did hear a couple of red-winged blackbirds staking out territory. Picked our way through the woods where the snow hasn't yet retreated. I'd broken my old walking stick last month so looked around for a replacement. Checked on the pussywillows. They've started opening but just. Will come back to them later. Walked through lots of ice cold water that's collecting in the swamps before feeding into the creek and then the river. Temp was in the 40's and glad I only wore a sweatshirt. I was getting pretty warm by the time we climbed back out of the woods and into a cool breeze.
