Summer Reading Program

I spent most of the day at the library.  Not my original plan when I got up.  Wednesday mornings the library hosts 'Coffee and Conversation' from 10 a.m. to 11:30.  While the clientele for this draws mostly from the 'older set' we do talk about interesting stuff like politics, religion, and local gossip.  Colleen was the library volunteer on duty this morning plus runs the Summer Reading Program.  She reminded us all to come back at 1:00 when the Summer Reading Program was having some local guys come in to play for the kids.  She wanted the guys to have more of an audience.  So I came back and manned the front desk while the guys played.  The younger brother had handmade his own flutes and bagpipe.  They were scheduled for just a song or two but they played Scottish and Irish reels, jigs, and traditional songs for a full hour.  The kids were mesmerized.  Must have been because they sat on the floor w/o talking or fidgeting for the entire time. After the guys, the crowd, and the kids left the library quieted.  The librarian had asked me to make up some simple spreadsheets for her so I used the time to give her a training session on how to use them. Since I had to come back at 4:00 for my regular weekly stint, I just stayed on and gave the librarian some time to run library errands.  Closed up at 7 and came home.  Grabbed Indy and we took off on a nice no-people-around walk.
