TV schedules changed and I've been watching 'My Three Sons' at 6:30 a.m. It's a nice anodyne way to start the day before the news. The show handled well the phasing out of eldest son Mike and Grandpa Bub by replacing them w/ salty Uncle Charley and adopting Ernie. However when son Robbie married Katie the show decided he should have three sons of his own. These episodes were bizarre. I suppose it's because the show was filmed in the late 60's. Robbie & Katie are both college students living in his old bedroom and don't use birth control. Katie doesn't know she's pregnant until her mother has a 'premonition'. There are a series of silly episodes of guessing the gender. Katie is 8+ months pregnant when the doc's x-rays (shudder) show she is having at least twins. The doc didn't suspect this before? She gives birth and they are shown to the family soon afterwards - triplets full term and ready to go home. Can't help but think how different this show would be if it was filmed now.
