Turkey Vulture
A clear but cool day for the end of August. I needed to warm up so Indy and I went for a long walk through the swamps. The swamps were happily working away since we'd recently had rain. As we were walking back through the middle hay field I saw my neighbor Blake come over the top of the hill on his way to cut my furthest field. He stopped the tractor and said he'd hoped to catch me today. A car had hit a deer and the carcass was in the ditch. He planned on dragging it out of the ditch and into the field somewhere so it wouldn't be attracting predators onto the roadway. He said I'd probably get some good photos of buzzards and eagles for a couple of days while they feasted. By the time Indy and I got home, the birds were already circling. Bet the coyotes will be loud tonight and I wouldn't be surprised if bear came over to investigate. Lunchtime for everyone.

This week, we saw a buzzard that did not make it out of the road, in time, when a car came along. The buzzard and it's dinner were both laying in the road. Ugh!
