Virgin's bower

Made French Onion soup today.  I found a recipe in a book at the library which seemed within my ability to make.  It took a bit longer than I expected.  Had the onions reduced and the broth ready when it was time for library duty.  Instead of following the directions to bring the broth to a boil, add the onions and simmer for 30 minutes, I threw it all into my crock pot and put it on high.  Must have been the right thing to do because when I got back three hours later it had reduced perfectly.  All that remained was to cut up slices of French bread, toast them, put them in crockery, pour the soup over them, add shredded Swiss cheese on top and pop them back into the oven to melt.  Tasted wonderful. There is a possible downside of smelling of onions while I was volunteering at the library.  (Everyone was nice enough not to mention it though.)
