Red-bellied snake (maybe)
Brent was busy this afternoon. While I took a summer's nap in the reclining chair, Brent was mowing the trails, trimming around the sides of the house, taking a scroll saw to Russell's, and driving the garden tractor and wagon to Gorgeous Gorge to pick up wood from a make-shift foot bridge. When he came home he told me there was a snake in the wagon - a tiny thing, pencil thin, maybe a foot long. I took some pics and Brent removed the rest of the wood so he could dump the snake out. There, under the last piece of wood was another snake - similar to the first in everything except a bit lighter in color. I think they are juvenile red-bellied snakes (even though I never saw the belly color) - a common snake throughout the state but one I haven't seen before.
