McDonalds was not having a good day. I stopped by to pick up coffees for Aunt June and me. As I walked in a lady was arguing w/ her husband at the counter. "This is ridiculous! Let's go to the Family Restaurant. It would be faster than standing around here!" W/ that she walked out. Her husband returned to the counter w/ his receipt and asked for his money back. I had used a promotional coupon that gave me one coffee free. As has been the case before, the cashier looked like I was handing him foreign currency and got someone else to explain that one of the coffee's was free (seems odd he didn't know since the promotion has been going on for some months.) The lady waiting next to me whispered, "There are a lot of people working but they aren't doing anything." I counted heads behind the counter - 9 that I could see and, indeed, they mostly seemed to be standing and waiting. I was surprised two coffees should take that long to pour but was bemused enough to just let events unfold by themselves. The coffees were eventually ready and the lady handed them to me carefully telling me that the mocha was in the right hand cup and the latte was in the left. I figured she was having a tough enough day so didn't point out that when you order a medium size mocha and a small latte, the size of the cup is a dead-giveaway.

Glad our weekly Tuesday morning "guys" coffee at McDonald's here goes smoothly. The employees are always busy & friendly. One older woman even walks around with two coffee pots offering refills....although sometimes she gets side-tracked visiting with the older crowd of regulars, and you have to walk up to the counter and get your own.
