Indy in t-shirt

It's that time of year for me to complain about the PNC's cost index for the gifts listed in the song The 12 Days of Christmas. Once again the "8 maids a-milking" are the cheapest item - $58. The PNC notes that "the milk maids are unskilled labor and therefore listed at minimum wage." I about went apoplectic. Unskilled! Milkers may receive their training on the job but we are hardly unskilled. Besides, just what university course did the "10 Lords a-leaping" need to take - Jumping 101? My grandnieces innately dance, without benefit of any training, and will do it for a smile - not the $7,000 bill from the "9 Ladies dancing". Personally I'd love to watch a bunch of PNC execs try to put a milking unit on a heifer. Then let them call us "unskilled".

I may be a couple days late with my comment but did you know 8 maids-milking represented the 8 beatitudes;
blessed are poor in spirit; those who mourn; meek; hungry; merciful; pure in heart; peacemaker and righteous.
You're right the milk maids were the lowest of the low. JVM
