The alarm went off this morning and I reached up, grabbed the remote, and turned on the TV. It automatically comes on to a national news program. Ever since I worked in the Big City, it's been my custom to listen first thing to the news. In the Big City, I always felt it would be a good day if I didn't hear my company's computer systems had been hacked (since our group was responsible for the security of the data). Now, if the lead news story is something trivial, I know that I don't need to listen to the rest of the news - nothing big happened overnight. This morning the headline story was George Zimmerman was in trouble w/ the law. How much more banal can it get?
