Rhode Island Red

First snowfall. Don't get excited. Doesn't mean this will stay nor does it mean we've even had a killing frost yet. Ambient ground temperatures will eventually melt this snow and native plants can withstand a slight freeze. Also, it's also been over five months since we last had snow. I've forgotten all about how cold, bleak, and dark winter can be. First flakes of the new season - I'm pumped.

Madison is getting a hard frost tonight. Had to hurry out to the garden while there was still light to get the last of the kohlrabis, cabbage, zucchini, and tomatoes.
