Fjord Horse
Friends of Sheila's raise fjord horses and were kind enough to let us come out and see them over the weekend. Fjord horses originated in Norway and were the original mounts of the Vikings. They are considered a light draft horse - strong enough to pull a load, light and agile enough to be a riding horse. Fjords are all dun in color w/ some shade variations. Traditionally the mane is cut short so it stands up straight and shows off the characteristic black stripe down the middle. The horses we met are both sweet in disposition and beautiful in conformation. While that would be endearing enough, these horses come when they are called, know which stall is theirs, and wait to poop/urinate until they are outside of the barn. Hmmm. Wonder what it would take to teach the cows to do that?
