Lesser Purple Fringed Orchid

Found another new plant (new to me anyway) today - and it's another orchid! Decided to cross through the swamp in the new part of the forest. It's been dry enough that the swamp is navigable w/o losing a shoe and the ticks have gone to wherever ticks go this time of year. Canary grass and cleaver plants made the going slow but maybe that's why I noticed the one spur of this flower. As I've explained before while there are many different types of orchids they never are plentiful wherever they exist so it's a bit of a hunt to find them. This makes three orchid varieties I've found in the Northwoods. Life is good!

I just bought an orchid so we shall see if it survives! Carolyn
