Stopped in to pick up a book I ordered from the library. The librarian pulled opened a drawer and said, "The next time you volunteer, this is where I hide the key to the cash box." Since we have never locked it before - it's not like there are is an extravagant amount of money kept on-hand - I asked why the change in policy. Seems the librarian had happened to have some larger monetary transactions during the day and at night she decided to deposit the money in the bank. When she opened up the cash box, only $11 in bills were left - a loss of about $50. The librarian is pretty sure she knows the kids who took it but can't prove it. While she never mentioned names, I'm know who she was talking about. Too bad - not only for the library but for the kids who have made some very bad choices.
