Meadow Fritillary butterfly on Blue Vervain flowers

A warm week has started here.  Dire warnings about the heat from the weatherman but to tell you the truth the temps will probably only get into the high 80's. Sure the humidity will hit the 70's but, today at least, we had a nice breeze to go w/ it. Even the walk today was completed w/ a minimum of sweating. The air is fragrant w/ the scent of mown hay, bergemot, and especially milkweed. (Visiting friends described the smell of milkweed to lilac though I personally think it's a more delicate odor.) Indy and I walked down butterfly alley - it's a cut through the woods alive w/ ferns right now but it will become the in-place for moths and butterflies as soon as the Joe Pye-weed begins to bloom. Even ate a few raspberries along the way - they are just beginning to ripen. The halcyon days of summer are upon us.
