Whisker cleaning

Indy and I went into the swamp to see it do it's thing. Between the rain this morning and the snow melt, there is a lot of water looking for somewhere to go. Through a series of drainage swales, the water from the fields and forest is funnelled down to the swamp. This swamp is a wide area on either side of a creek.  The swamp slows down the water to an imperceptible current, holding it to allow it to soak into the ground, and only when necessary giving it up to the creek. The creek flows to a river which this time of year will back up into the creek causing it to overrun it's shores. Not a problem, the swamp is happy to have water from any source. As I've always said, the swamp is a "happenin' kind of place."
