Northward bound

While we put the milking units on the cows manually, they come off automatically. When the unit's sensor determines there is no longer a predetermined amount of milk coming through, it shuts off the vacuum. So that the milker unit doesn't fall to the floor, a take-up reel brings the milker back up to about eye level. Sometimes the take-up reel gets caught and, when it releases, the milker unit comes swinging violently up. Jose got hit in the eye last week when that happened.  We were laughing that he had a "ojo rojo" (red eye). Today it was my turn to get whacked by a milker. Add fat lip to my list of on-the-job injuries.

Just think of the money you saved. Movie stars pay big bucks for the "puffy" lips.
