Hooded Merganser

Haven't seen this duck species in the pond before so am not absolutely sure but it seems to fit the description. Indy and I took a long walk today - hadn't done that since the weather turned hot. Returned from the walk w/ one arm bleeding (just brushing past blackberry brambles is enough to draw blood) and raspberries on my breath (found ripe ones everywhere.) I keep a bottle of my neighbor's homemade insect repellent in my camera case so when the deer flies honed in on me, I was able to apply it to areas of exposed skin that I'd missed with the initial spray down. While it didn't seem that warm today, I was sweating profusely by the time we got back (storm hit soon afterward.) For all of that - enjoyed the walk immensely.
