At church this morning, the pastor was explaining the difference between the law and grace. He compared it to a recent procedure he had - a colonoscopy. Turned out to be quite a good simile though it elicited some groans from the congregation. He then went further and suggested that people come forward and write on white boards around the church, the number of one of the ten commandments that is giving them trouble. He explained that the 10 commandments were the law but after everyone was done writing, the boards would be wiped clean, just as grace wipes the sin from our souls. Not one of his better ideas, I thought. Would tongues start wagging if someone wrote VI, VII, VIII?
