Sunrise

Volunteered at the library this morning.  At the annual budget meeting this week one of the board asked why, instead of removing a road project, don't we remove the library line item.  First, the amount we give the library is smaller than any road project so it wouldn't help a lot.  Second, 3/4ths of the money for the library we receive ahead of time from the state specifically to give to the library.  Third, what the township gives to the library amounts to $6/person in the township.  That gives everyone free access to any book, magazine, or movie in 50 libraries.  Just request it and the item is delivered to the library nearest you or download it to your computer.  It gives free use of the library's computers, a free location for meetings, a warm place to wait for a friend, play a game, put together a jigsaw puzzle.  Seems a worthwhile use of the township money to me.
