Woke up at 5. A thunderstorm was starting. Watched lightening flashes and listened to the rain until they lulled me back to sleep again. Things are gradually getting quieter around here. Only hear goldfinches singing. Most of the birds have left, starting their migration to warmer climes. I can still hear wind rustling the tree leaves and tall grasses. The frogs have quit chirping though there is a constant undercurrent of cicadas and crickets. Often read about the seasonal changes we see and feel - not so often about the changes in sounds.
