Lisa, the intern, is engaged. She used her day off yesterday to go w/ her mother and bridesmaids to pick out a dress. Either it was a very long day, family dynamics didn't go well, or she caught the flu but she didn't feel well enough to come to work this morning. Not a problem, her younger brother, Andy, fills in at times and he gladly took her place. However, it's Thursday, the day we dry off cows, and there were 8 to do today. Taking these cows out of the milking herd so they can rest before their calves are born requires administering vaccines and neither Andy nor I do that. We needed the herdsman. Figuring that Lisa would be there today and if he was late, she would handle it, he had slept in. Took a call to his house but he got to the dairy in time when the first of the 8 cows came into the parlor. Anytime you play hooky, it seems you get caught.
