Blue Crane

This has been the week to see birds migrating back to or through the Northwoods.  The nuthatches, chickadees, woodpeckers, and crows have stayed all winter long but now I've begun to  notice robins and red-winged blackbirds perched on the barbed wire fences.   Caught a glimpse of a pair of loon on Gorgeous Gorge but couldn't get a picture.  Was able to get this blue crane strutting his stuff in the field behind the house yesterday.   Then, just as the sun was setting, I saw flamingo feeding in that same field and I'm pretty sure I heard a flock of penguin go overhead - passing through on the way to their tundra breeding grounds, I suppose.  Won't be long before Indy and I can expect to spot emu's in the swamps again.  I love Spring!
Hope you all have a fun April Fools Day.  (Picture is from Greg Johnson who took it in South Africa.)
