Brilliant Sunset Clouds

The cost of giving the gifts mentioned in the 12 Days of Christmas was published for 2010. I'm pretty angry. The 8 Maids a-Milking are now the cheapest (or one of the cheapest, depends on whose price list you look at) of the whole bunch - $58. They are paying these working women minimum wage. At the dairy, I milk around 50 cows/hour. So the end result of 8 maids a-milking for one hour is 400 cows milked and approximately 12,000 pounds of milk. The stupid 10 Lords a-Leaping and 9 Ladies Dancing get paid over $400 a piece and what do you have to show for it after they've finished? I think in these tough economic times, the gifter could downsize a bit and instead of getting classically trained dancers, pay to have college kids dance. The kids would probably do it for the cost of some drinks, snacks, and a DJ. Everyone could join in and have a great time. Trust me, those milk maids love a good party!

Perhaps the 8 maids-a-milking need to organize a union. Just sayin..

How about changing occupations for Dec?
The milking maids have job security. In your case 3X a day.
How often do you think the Lords get asked to LEAP or or ladies called to DANCE?

No unions, please. Our cost of milk at the store would sky rocket just like health costs and educaton.

Perhaps the dancers were all documented workers.

Touché - Everywhere I looked on the web showed that milkers make more than minimum wage. Bet the 12 Days of Christmas are employing illegals.
